It was another week and time to do a little shopping.
We are still stocking up on school lunch supplies, but I think we are getting pretty close on having what we need for awhile.
But then my kids are like small garbage disposals – so it may only last two weeks.

Commentary
As you can tell by my total – I will be over this month. Part of that is due to having a few extra dollars from last month left and part of that is giving myself an extra $100 to stock up on kid’s lunch stuff this month.
Best Deals are the Truvia and the Healthy Choice Greek Yogurt. I plan on hitting Hy-Vee at least two more times for the Truvia because it is an amazing deal.
And Costco has a coupon for the Ziploc Bags making the 100 count bags only $1.25 each. And that is a BARGAIN.
Surprises? My Hy-Vee had their Thin Sliced Turkey Breast on close-out for $1.50 for 9 oz. It was a little higher than I like to pay for lunchmeat, but it also means I’m completely stocked up for several months and that peace of mind is worth something.

How are you liking the HenHouse CSA? I did it a couple of years ago, and really liked it. I remembered with each week they also gave a miscellaneous local jarred item as well, though. There was this jar of pickled pepper jam, or something like that- I loved it! That was my favorite part, finding new items. I have been trying to do the farmer’s market the last two years, and while I really enjoyed it last year, I’ve found I haven’t been able to go much this year, so I was considering going back to HenHouse next year. I’d love to hear what your thoughts are on it this year! Thanks for your great website!
Vicky – I’ve been a Hen House CSA member for four years and I love it. This year is a little hard because of the drought, so the selection hasn’t been as good as years past…but we will sign up again in 2013 without a doubt. The meat and cheese alone are worth it.
I am new to the area (been here about a year) from another state, and I also joined Hen House’s CSA program for the first year. I LOVE IT. My pick up day is my favorite day of the week. Last week we got some lip balm (local of course) that is sooo awesome! I highly recommend it. And I will be doing it again for years to come.
also at Costco the Honey Bunches of Oats w/ almonds ends up being about $1 for a 12 oz box. I will be stocking up on this kid chow.
