Earlier this week I wrote a post about How To Save Money Without Using Coupons.
And my goal is to try and stay true to that philosophy during July.
July is always our REALLY busy month and my desire to chase after deals begins to wane.
So I’m “trying” to keep it to one store + my CSA pickup (which is at Hen House – so I guess that is two stores) each week.
This week while I was at Hen House to pick up my CSA, I also picked up a few things for our 4th of July Picnic.
Hen House
Pictured: (2) Watermelons, (2) Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, (2) French’s Mustard, (6) Libby’s Cut Green Beans, Mt. Olive Hamburger Dills, Mt. Olive Sweet Relish, (3) Planter’s Almonds, (2) Green Onions, Roberts Sour Cream, Roberts Orange Juice, (6) Peaches & Cream Corn, Roma Hamburger Buns and (2) Ramen Noodles. Total: $26.25
Hen House CSA
Pictured: Bader Peaches, Green Peppers, Candy Onions, Good Natured Family Farms Cheese, and Good Natured Family Farms Ground Round (2 lbs). Total: $25.00 value.
Total for trip: $51.25
Total for month: $51.25
Shopping Notes
Luckily I received a text from Hen House that Libby Veggies would be on special for $.39 each (Limit 6) on Monday & Tuesday. Even better, I had a $1/4 Printable Coupon (no longer available), so I got cans of veggies for $.22 each.
The Mt. Olive Sweet Relish was FREE after coupon. (And they changed their packaging – I hated those squeeze bottles.) And the Hamburger Dills were $.79 after coupon.
I could have gotten the watermelon cheaper at another store, but I really didn’t want to add one more stop to my errand list.
And we had our first sweet corn of the season at $.25 each – it was pretty good. No perfect according to Farm Boy Hubs, but pretty darn good.
Super excited for the peaches. They are a little early this year because of the warm temps, but I LOVE LOVE fresh peaches. And honestly, Bader peaches are THE BEST.
How about you? Any great finds this week.

Amen. Hated that squeeze bottle.
I’m loving the CSA from henhouse. I do a wednesday pickup so haven’t gotten this bunch yet but I’m picturing stuffed green peppers and peach cobbler with the goodies this week!
