The HOTTEST deal is by far the cheese sale that starts on Friday!

Buy 5 kraft items and get back a $5 cat!

Cheese is 4/$5 Friday and Saturday, so even if you don’t have coupons, you can roll the $5 cat over and over, and pay $1.25 + tax for 5 bags of cheese! *first purchase will be $6.25*

If you have the $1/2 cheese coupons, first purchase will be $4.25, get back $5. Second purchase, roll the $5, and use 2 $1/2 coupons, add a filler of $.75 to get free cheese! :)

    • Kelly says:

Sara – THANKS for the update. I’m going to first thing on Friday to confirm – and if it goes through – I think I will be stocked up on cheese for quite some time. :)

      • sara says:

        You are so welcome!

They did this last year, but the cheese was 5/$6! It was SO fun!

        • Darcy says:

Do they count the shredded cheese as part of the Catalina deal? It wasn’t shown on the same page in the ad – not sure if there are only certain Kraft products that are part of this deal.

  2. Michelle says:

Help…I’m new, so “roll the cat” sounds like playing with my pet. LOL

So if I have coupons, can I buy 5 pkgs of cheese and use 2 $1/2 and my first purchase is $4.25? A cat is something that comes out of the register? And I go back through the checkouts again with the same deal and my cat, but with a 75 cent item because I have to use the whole $5 cat at once? Will I get a second cat? And I can purchase any other thing for that $5?

    • Kelly says:

      Michelle –

      Transaction #1:
      (5) Bags of Cheese @ $1.25 each
Pay $6.25 and Receive $5 Catalina Good on Your Next Order

      Transaction #2:
      (5) Bags @ $1.25 each
Use $5 Catalina from previous order
Pay $1.25 and Receive a $5 Catalina Good on Your Next Order

If you have coupons, the total would be less – but the catalina would be the same. For example,

      Transaction #1:
      (5) Bags @ $1.25 each
Use (2) $1/2 Shredded Cheese Coupons
Pay $4.25 and Get a $5 Catalina Good on Your Next Order

      Transaction #2:
      (5) Bags @ $1.25 each
Filler Item for $.75 (which can be anything)
Use (2) $1/2 Shredded Cheese Coupons
And then use $5 Catalina from previous transaction
Free + $5 Catalina Good on Your Next Order

  3. sara says:

    Michelle, you are correct.

The cat is the coupon that comes out of the register, aka Catalina. :)

You can use the $5 over and over again, thus rolling.

You can buy anything you wish with that $5! This deal is awesome!!!

  4. Sarah says:

I’m new to this, too. This seems like a really silly question, but I’ll ask anyway. When you say you roll the deal to the next transaction, do you bring everything with you to the register or do you actually get in line multiple times? For example, do you bring 20 bags of cheese to the register and pay four different times? Thanks for your patience!

    • Kelly says:

Sarah – Yes. You would need to do four different transactions to have the catalina print for the 20 cheeses. Keep in mind that we have no confirmed this yet.

  5. ruth stevenson says:

    Hi All!

Does anyone know if the $1 off 2 Kraft cheese coupons are restricted to the kind with “a touch of Philly” or will ANY Kraft shredded cheese work?

Also, will you only get the cat if you purchase the Kraft cheese? For instance, can you do the 2 cheese deals as stated above and then use the last cat you get to buy ANY 5 Kraft items and then get ANOTHER cat?
    Thanks :)

    • Kelly says:

Ruth – you can get the catalina from any of the Kraft items in the circular. We have not confirmed the cheese catalina – but have a pretty good idea that it will work.

  6. Love your blog!! Thank you so much for doing the Hy-Vee match-ups!!!

  7. Jamie says:

You can also get a really good deal on the Kellogg’s cereal by using the coupon listed above, do 2 transactions for a total of 10 boxes and then submit for the Kellogg’s $10.00 rebate. The kinds of cereal are very specific so check the Kellogg’s website first. It is listed as a prepaid Mastercard for $10.00 for gas price relief, has AARP on the page….I have already sent off for one rebate as my daughter is a Rice Krispies addict! You can submit for the rebate up to 5 times!!!

  8. Michelle says:

Please let us know tomorrow if the catalina prints for the shredded cheese! I’m going on Saturday if it works! Thanks so much!

  9. Deb says:

So these cats will actually roll? unlike walgreens RR cats?

    • Kelly says:

Yes. They will roll. But you still need to treat it like a manufacturer coupon – so you may need a filler item depending on your coupons.

  10. Noelle says:

Just wanted to give an update. I went to Hy-vee this morning and bought five kraft shredded cheese with a touch of philly. They rang up at 1.25 each I used five $1/1 coupons, paid $1.81 with tax. Great deal! But no $5 cat :( Still a great deal with the $1/1 coupons but not a MM.

  11. Katie O says:

I also went to Hy-Vee this morning. I bought 5 Kraft shredded cheese and did not get the $5 cat. There was a blinkie buy the cheese though for a $1 off one Kraft with Philly cheese, so if you can find that it would be a great deal. Also, I bought 6 boxes of Kelloggs and got 3 cats for a free gallon of milk. I was pretty excited about that!

  12. Tracy says:

No go for me either on the Catalina for the shredded cheese. But my Hy-Vee did have the philly cheese so still a good deal, I had the 1.00 off of 2 cheese coupons. Also, if your doing the Kelloggs deal. I did get the Catalina for the free gallon of milk for purchasing the cereal and be on the lookout on some of the corn flakes and rice krispies there are peelies for $1.00 off any fresh fruit with the purchase of 2 cereals. So, makes for a good deal on the strawberries, $1.18 for 2 lbs or you could use it to get any fruit. Just make sure if you are using one of the 1.00/2 cereal coupons and the a coupon for the 1.00 off of fruit you are buying 4 cereals.

  13. Nada says:

There is also a cat for a free gallon of milk when you buy 3 kelloggs cereal.
This makes the rebate/sale/free milk a smokin hot dealio!

  14. kelliinkc says:

Okay, what did I do wrong? No catalina for me. Here’s what I bought: 1 Oscar Meyer bacon, 2 blocks Kraft cheese, 2 Crystal Light. Was it supposed to be 5 of the same thing to generate a catalina?

BTW looooove how much easier to read the grocery deals are now in RSS!!!

    • Kelly says:

Kel – if you didn’t get a catalina – you need to take the ad and your receipt to customer service and have them make good.

  15. ruth stevenson says:

FYI, you can use the $1/1 Kraft with a Touch of Philly coupon on any of the Kraft shredded cheese varieties. I used mine on 3 Cheese and Monterrey Jack. I even went through the lane with one of managers who was helping check out and he didn’t blink an eye at it.

  16. Jamie says:

Okay, I do have to say that I am very disappointed about the cereal size of the Rice Krispies not matching up with the rebate. The RK on sale were 9 oz. and the rebate says the cereals have to be at least 10 oz. Bummer!!!
