Get Organized! Movie Madness

by Kelly on November 17, 2009

My girls are 5 and 2 and just recently developed very different tastes in television shows.  My 5 year old (“almost six” she says now) decided Noggin/Nick Jr. was too baby-ish for her. That was a sad day in our household.  We tried a couple of other shows on other channels but (ugh!) had to deal with commercials.  So, my answer for the short term was to purchase several of the great $2-$5 movies.  No commercials and I know what is being watched is appropriate for both my 5 and 2 year old.

Very quickly, this too became a problem.  Too many movies, not enough space to store them.  Plus, my 2 year old wanted to take the movies out of the case ”by myself.”  Oh, don’t you just love the 2s?  So, I tried storing my 5-year olds movies in one 24-ct CD square case and my 2-year olds movies in another 24-ct square case.  Well, of course, they got mixed up and when we would take them in the car on a trip I would always seem to forget to pack one of them.

That’s when I decided that I was making this all too hard.
So, I went to Target and bought a Trapper Keeper on clearance and added CD/DVD pages.  Now, all the movies fit in one place, my 2-year old can handle the movies without breaking them, and we have plenty of room to add more.  I store all the cases in a box in my storage room in case I ever want to sell or give away the movie later.
Ahhhh…. I love it when it all comes together.
